Campuses in Concord, Salinas, San Francisco, San Jose, and Stockton offer an Associate in Applied Science degree in Pharmacy Technology. Heald College offers a flexible schedule of day and evening classes. They also offer full and part-time schedules. With full-time enrollment, an associate degree can be earned in as little as 24 months.

Heald College is accredited by the Accrediting Commissionfor Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) of the WesternAssociation of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

The Associate in Applied Science degree in Pharmacy Technology requires completion of 26 classes (94 credits). Some classes require a letter grade of “C” or higher in order to earn credit. Examples of courses required:

Carrington College California

Carrington College, formerly known as Western Career College, is among the largest private colleges in California. They offer an Associate of Science degree in Pharmacy Technology at locations in Antioch, Citrus Heights, Emeryville, Pleasant Hill, Pomona, Sacramento, San Jose, San Leandro, and Stockton, CA.

Carrington College California is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACCJC/WASC). The Pharmacy Technician associate program is also accredited by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists.

The cost of Carrington College’s Associate in Science degree in Pharmacy Technology is $27,296. San Joaquin Valley College

San Joaquin Valley College was founded in 1977. Today it has eight campuses in California. This is an accredited private junior college which offers accelerated curriculum. With their focused learning style, an associate degree can be earned in as little as 14 months.

San Joaquin Valley College offers a Certificate of Completion in Pharmacy Technology at their campus in Rancho Cucamonga. This program qualifies students to become licensed in the state of California and prepares students for entry level positions. The cost of earning this certificate is $16,650.

San Joaquin Valley College also offers an Associate in Science degree in Pharmacy Technology at campuses in Modesto, Fresno, Visalia, Bakersfield, and Rancho Cucamonga. The cost of enrollment for the associate degree is $29,750 with exception to Rancho Cucamonga, where the cost is $31,950. Students in both programs also earn Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Certification. The associate degree includes an externship period as well.

Newbridge College

Newbridge College offers a degree program in pharmacy technology at its San Diego East campus. This is a 36 week specialized program consisting of 720 clock hours and 40.33 credit hours. This program meets the educational requirements of pharmacy technician licensure.

The program teaches students pharmacy operations and practice procedures in a variety of pharmacy settings. Students also learn laws and ethics of pharmacy, FDA and DEA regulations, pharmacy calculations and more.

Newbridge College requires students to have a high school diploma (or GED), and have good command of the English language. Newbridge College San Diego East receives its accreditation from the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education & Training (ACCET). The cost of acquiring a Pharmacy Technician Certificate is $16,090.

Santa Barbara Business College

Santa Barbara Business College is one of the oldest schools in the country. They were founded in 1888 in downtown Santa Barbara, California. Today they have a total of five campuses in Southern California. Only their Santa Maria campus offers training to pharmacy technicians.

Santa Barbara Business College offers an Associate in Science degree in Pharmacy Technician. This course is completed over 90 weeks. It consists of 94 credits and 1,140 clock hours. An externship period is included.

Associate in Science degree Pharmacy Technician students learn how to maintain inventory and medical records, to prepare commercially unavailable medications, and medication delivery systems, among other subjects. The cost for tuition is $28,670. There are other fees which apply, bringing the total educational expense to approximately $32,000.

Santa Barbara Business College is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS).
